You may be wondering why I’ve decided to call my site The Viking.
I’m a Viking: My mother’s ethnicity is Danish. My father met her in Copenhagen Denmark while on vacation.
I love my heritage.
Vikings were warriors. This has a spiritual significance to me because of my desire to win to Christ anyone who God brings across my path. Warriors are fighters and that’s part of my personality and spiritual DNA. I fight for those who are beaten down by a cruel world. I was small when I was young, so I got picked on quite a bit. I know what it feels like to experience bullies and injustice. Jesus was a great warrior.
Vikings were also explorers. Historically, they sailed all of Europe, parts of North Africa, all of the North Sea and were said to have been to the Americas. They established colonies in many of those parts of the world. This is a powerful witness to the passions I have in my heart. One of my favorite words to describe those who are living in the kingdom of God is Journey. I love a great journey and the adventure that goes along with it. It’s what makes being a follower of Christ such an awesome experience. To believe in God yet not be able to experience journey would be sad. I love missions!!! Everyone should go on one tough third world mission’s trip in their life. Its part of the journey of knowing how much God loves the World!
I also have a Viking name, Jørn. It means worker of the ground. Many Vikings were also farmers, so most of the year they worked the land and then would head off in their longboats sailing to distant lands. Being a pastor and a church planter, I seem to be attracted to the hard ground or ground that has never been plowed, tilled or sowed. It’s like the guy that no one wants to talk to because they don’t think he will listen to the love of God.I love those guys! I’m willing to plant, water and sow like a good Viking who has discovered new ground that no one has ever worked on before.
The reason for this site is so that you can see where I’m going on my journey. Sometimes I’ll share my devotionals or just thoughts I have about God. Mostly I’ll just tell you what I’m thinking and where I’ve been or am going. I hope you enjoy the Journey.
It’s awesome to hit a random blog and find thought provoking scripture! Thanks for sharing!
